Sarah in Sabah

I like the title. I shall make this a tagline. See, my name and where I currently am just differ by a letter.

Malindo Air, up in the skies above the South China Sea

So far so good, I think I can get used to this, but seriously, needing to worry about things besides studying is just too stressful. Either that, or I'm just bad at being organized. You should come see the room I'm living in now. My [study] place's a mess.
I'm such a disorganized mess.
I did so many mistakes ever since I came here.

No, actually I've been committing many mistakes even before I came here.
Most of them seem to work out, maybe those which didn't work out didn't cross my mind.
Either that, all have worked out I guess, since I'm still alive and typing over here.

Transportation.
Laundry.
Food.
Studies.
I used to be a full time student and my life being sorted out by my overly-awesome parents.
Now? Aih.

This morning we just had a quiz on one of my subjects this sem. Man, I couldn't answer a single thing. I still dislike biology, mildly chemistry. I'm not fit to be a brainiac, I guess.

I miss home. I miss the toilet, my bed, my room, the fast internet speed, the washing machine, my parents, my brother, my friends, everything at home. Everything came in convenience. I had the printer with just few steps away, I had food in the fridge, I had stationeries hidden somewhere in my boxes. I had everything.
Now, it's just pure inconvenience.

However, living outside is fun. It's fun to face the rain and complaining about how my clothes won't dry and have a crowd agreeing to what I say. It's fun to worry about what to eat next morning. It's fun to make new friends from different meetings. It's fun.

Tanjung Aru beach with the JCC members
I'm now in the publicity team of the Japanese Cultural Club here. I am responsible to design the ticket in the shape of a fan. I don't think I'm gifted with the talent of arts and crafts, but I learn technical stuffs fast. Thank goodness of technology.
I can just create and create layers of errors and trials, get what I want and delete all the mistakes.
No one will know except for me... and those people who I kept sending my errors to.
Not that that concerns them.

Anyway.

There are nice people, and there are also people with attitude problem just about anywhere, any part of the world. It's not a discrimination against nationality or races, it's a person's own personality. It's good so far, people I meet are nice. My roommates are nice. They easily react to things, maybe I feel this way because I rarely have reactions. My housemates are nice too, except for 2 whom never talk to me, whom only look at me and just regard my existence. I smile but they don't smile back so, okay. Your choice.

By God's grace, really; I feel happy when I'm at rest. I feel happy that I feel worried. I feel happy that I feel stressed. I feel happy all the time, because I feel alive. I have a new family here. This church is quite different from the one I go back home, but everyone is nice. Everyone is cool. Everyone is awesome! The church is Emmanuel Church KK. The first week I went to church, I cried. I cried so much. I cried for the first time I came here. The Holy Spirit was just so overwhelming. Suddenly, I missed home.

I want to go home.

I love food. I love fried, crunchy food most. Besides having meal stalls at our cafe, they also have small snack stalls. FRIED BANANA OMG. KEROPOK LEKOR OMG. I come here become fat. Haven't tried any remarkable Sabah food yet, I supposed. Food though, any of them nice food will make me happy.
I'm a simple person. If it's tasty, I'm happy. I don't need any extravagant fancy delicacies. Like uni (sea urchin). *hints hints*

The line to wait for bus
Sabah is a nice place. My campus is a nice place, albeit hilly. Walking is difficult due to the extreme steepness here. Can cry if I need to walk every single day. There are buses, and of course, public transports in Malaysia have made quite a reputation among their citizens.

Till the next update!

Mad Scientists

S'been a while since I wrote on this blog. I had random language block in which I don't feel in the mood to think of words. Yep, my mind totally stops having that voice in the head.

A lot has happened. Let's see; I'm an upper six student now and it's the real deal, STPM results for Seafield wasn't satisfying for Pn. Chong, the worst prefect installation (offence intended, sorry), piles and piles of homework.

Arashi colours!
It was the Science and Maths Week Exhibition in SMK Seafield! My group did "Silver Crystals". It's basically just the displacement of metals, in this case, copper displaces silver in the silver nitrate solution.

It is amazingly shiny,
This is an example. Expensive stuffs yo, silver. Told the lab assistant I wanted 4 giant bottles of silver nitrate, she rejected at first. Went back home and thought, why not, psychologically, ya know, people like to hear things that comfort them. In the end, I went back to them, "Kak, I want 2 litres, but we will use as little as possible lah." Got it. Even for the gloves, I asked for a whole box but promised to return any extra.

Our set up. We had students from Form 2 to Form 6 (we skipped duty for Form 1 today, lazy). The higher forms were easier to explain and they don't ask impossible questions. "Why got silver?" "Why it happens?" "Why can like that one?" "Why?" I understand the curiosity of kids. Some gave us the whoa expression, which I find it really satisfying. A group of kids were supportive enough to keep "sandpaper-ing" the copper wires to get their perfectly silver-coated shapes.

Grenade
Sarah Hannah! :)
I made a few new friends in this exhibition. The group sharing the lab table with mine did Tic-Tac-Toe and was guarded by the famous swimmer in the school, Chan Jie (in which I like to call him San-Jay, heh) and Yang (who keeps scolding me, wth). Then there were these 2 form 1 guys who were "bad in maths" and were amazed by the colour changing cabbage thingy. Also, this group of form 3s (picture above!), they are a bunch of nuisance!!! And of course, Sarah Hannah who says I'm very nice. :) And of course a few other kids... Kids, yeah, what to do, Upper Sixes are the eldest among the students.

And there were many other interesting experiments! Hot Ice by Aik Hean's group, Colour Changing Message by Yen Chee's group, DNA extraction by Sylvia and Rachel's group, Purple Cabbage by Stephanie's group, Dancing Gummy Bears (which is just glowing and burning gummy bears), Corn Starch, Burning Money (then they started burning hand with cloth heh), beating egg white, bicycle generated blender, Foamy Fountain, Smoke Grenade (=__=), Lava Lamp etc.!

If you are interested, I took a couple of photos for myself (the memories yaaaaw) and you can see it! Just click on this link, and you can enjoy the awesomeness of science and maths (uhhhh, yeah).

shhh :)

everything in the world became instant
rushing, hurrying
everyone is chasing time
time is chasing everything

counting the hours of sleep you can get
before laying to a regeneration
planning on how long to eat
or mashing up all in one go

fast food, fast as it is
munch munch on the way
this reminds me, i have to write an essay about these
oh well, shrugging my shoulders

suddenly everyone became so good at multitasking
everyone seems to be in control of time
but that's when stress comes in
when everything gets out of our grasp

do you stop to look at things around you?
do you realise people moving at the same pace like you?
do you reflect on what you've done for the day?
do you simply just go along to the unexciting rhythm of life?

nah, i'm not trying to tell you
"find excitement in life!"
no one can party everyday
especially me, i hate going out

but what if you slow down
start listening to the sounds around you
damn, you might realise it's noisy
shhhhh! quiet down please

:) the quiet place

i admit i have been inventing
creating unnecessary stress for myself
something like valentine's
when i didn't get a present from him :(

sometimes thinking too much is depressing
because normal beings see the bad sides of things
i often have to look back at my sweet past
to numb my current state of distress

okay, back to maths and story-writing
thank you blog, my place of letting out
i hope you, reader
find this post the least depressing

hehehe, but helpful in one way or another!

GQ; no it's not about the magazine.

And he said unto him, Arise, go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole. -- Luke 17:19 (KJV)

Pastor Nirhal was the speaker in today's session. This message hit me real hard: how thankful is society today?

I always pray for the guidance of God before an examination starts. I always pray for satisfying (and safe) results before I receive 'em. However, I rarely thank Him when I get my results.

Most of the time, it isn't satisfying; I know, but we know that God works in different ways. We can't always only rely on God to give us what we want! Results that isn't that good will motivate you to study harder, doesn't it? God is great.

"Which is harder -- saying sorry or saying thank you?"
Get you thinking.

Today's scripture was from the book of Luke. Luke 17:11-19, Ten Healed of Leprosy.
10 were healed of leprosy, but why only one returned to thank the Lord? Society is weird these days. We make wrong assumptions for things that happen(ed), this is not rationality!

"We know about IQ, and the recent hot topic of EQ, but we must have GQ!" pastor Nirhal said. GQ, you ask? Its "gratitude quotient". How much do you have it?

Thus, "where are the nine?"

Also, thanking God for the safe results of my papers so far. Biology is my fear now.

For example, 例えば.

http://youtu.be/apP--b3WdK0
I really think that you're the one
I want to show you where I'm coming from
I want to be your girl and be the one who's down for you
I'd like to get the chance to show you that
My love is true
Hello. I am still alive. But 5 days straight of intense battle starts from tomorrow and I can assure you that I haven't been studying.

First 2 days of holidays, I was at dad's hometown.  On the Sunday night I returned, had a fellowship moment with the U8 5B mates.
Next morning, fellowship moment with the U8 buddies and then a whole day spent after getting my very first Chatime and then walking around USJ6.
Pearl milk tea.
Tuesday, a whole day out shopping with Mummy for prom dress. Bought these as well.
Pocky and Arashi.
Wednesday, a whole day spent at Sash's lair celebrating Deepavali. And then had dinner with Carmen and her family.
At the playground like happy kids!
Like burnt ice-cream.

Thought Thursday would be the day when I finally stay home the whole day, but ended up going out to do manicure and pedicure.
Friday was the prom. Didn't wake up really early cuz I fell sick. Spent the whole night partying, so...
Yours truly isn't photogenic =="
A picture with our General Paper teacher. He's leaving us. Mr Kang, you'll be missed! (DEARLY).

Saturday (yesterday), spent most of my time day-dreaming, watching TV, talking on the phone with Carmen telling her interesting stories about my boring life, then watching TV again.
Today? Don't even talk about it.

I'm gonna fail this term and work harder for next year. Yesh!

Arashi will always be the best JE group evarrr! ♥
(Their latest song/single, Meikyu Love Song. The theme song for Sho-chan's drama :D)

Life's full of trials and errors.

Learn from your mistakes, cuz that's the best lesson!

Too tired, too lazy, too exhausted, too frustrated, too many-homeworks-not-done-yet. Let the pictures be the story-teller.

How I wish someone was there to watch it set with me ♥

My cute eyebags have been there since young. Ahh ;p

I am not stressed, I am just not sleeping enough. I'm turning nocturnal, because I'm sleepy during the days and energized during the night. However, when I face my homework, it is a negligible fact; I get sleepy no matter what.

Have been on prefect-on-probation for a while now (4 months and counting). Many of my friends resigned because it was getting really tedious; plus we were under-appreciated.

We can't blame the human nature, many are ungrateful.

Got me thinking about my ambition; what is it that I want to be?

I really want to be a scientist, but I have no obvious discovery I want to uncover.
I really want to be a pharmacist, but memorizing got me thinking twice.
I really want to a pharmaceutical scientist, but I have no idea what I want to invent a cure on and I suck in memorizing.

I want to study in Japan. I want to study in Meiji University.

And I want to sleep!

Was it only just a dream?

Splendid reward. :))

I have the most wonderful teachers this school year.
  1. Class teacher sponsored RM50 for our upcoming Poolside Partie! I am still contemplating on whether to go. Most of my classmates are going there with their lover, or THE significant partner. The single(s) might feel... sore, I must say. *points to self*
  2. Maths teacher treated the whole class to fried noodle on Thursday. Could smell Tom Yam throughout the 5 periods before recess. Couldn't hold in myself. The next day, she came in with chocolates as rewards to those who deserved it. I'm grateful to God for giving me this mathematical-inclined brain. Got rewarded the above 2 chocolate for acing my maths! ♥
So, form 6 is so far so good. (?) Further research is required.
I'm starting to slack off a little, starting to ask myself if this is what I want, starting to doubt my choice, starting to change, starting to not be myself anymore.
I wonder if its the pressure, or if its the environment (still single although everyone around me is coupled), or if its the effect of globalization, or if its the weather, of if its the lack of time.
I dream too much, I think too much, I analyze worthless information too much, I fantasize too much, I hope for too much, I get disappointed too much.
I go to school for the wrong purpose, I get motivated by the wrong reason, I continue for the wrong cause, I complete work by the wrong way, I help people by the wrong style.

At least I did a reflection on this.
Maybe its time to take action, time to move, time to start, time to stop, time to communicate, time to ask, time to confess.

Hmm. General Knowledge teacher said, "Guys are always first".

Anyway, Just a Dream by Nelly.

And quoting from my best friend,

even if it means risking your life"

Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan...

USJ 8? No, Seafield.

Monday mornings, students have to cite the Rukun Negara and the students' swear. Been a student of SMK USJ 8 for 5 years, I'm so used to saying "USJ 8" after "Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan" during the citals. Gotta start going all Seafield now.

Seafield's this really new environment to me. Its not the school you go to everyday just expecting lectures from teachers, tonnes of homework to bring home or to waste time when no one's in class; its the school I go to everyday, expecting something interesting to happen. Be it just a talk from the discipline teacher(s) about the same thing everyday, or a motivational talk from people, or a teacher leaving the school, or a celebrity filming for something (and I hyper-ly screamed).

Kah Fai and I.

So actually, the point is... I met Juztin Kah Fai. I met Elfira Loy. I met Datuk David Arumugam. I met... Um, lemme think, but I didn't meet the Timbalan Menteri Pendidikan lah. Isokayiscool. Seafield's really active in competitions too (choir, choral speaking, cheerleading......). Let's just say, this school's really out and about; unlike U8 where everyone is really like a big fat family staying close together wherever we are~ ;p

The early day of carnival.

Experienced my first Seafield carnival (alongside meeting Kah Fai). It wasn't the best (felt sien until I just kept walking and walking in circles) but it wasn't the worst. I did enjoy myself! Screamed for customers till my voice nearly crack. All worth, all worth.

Msia vs Chelsea 2011

Ticket sponsored by Astro, they gave 1300 pairs to our school, fun eh fun eh. It was my first live football match ever, I was so happy hyper! Mixed emotions after the match though; whether to be glad I survived throughout the whole first-ever-football-match, or to be pissed off that Malaysia couldn't score [even though, GAH SO MANY CHANCES], or to be all emo-because-the-match-was-boring. 7 of us even got lost in the stadium. Hurhurhur, really need to improve on my sense of direction.

Wise, for the low self-esteem.

My first ever exams in Seafield, next week, 3rd August onwards. Time to score well, Sarah. Just today morning, the head prefect told us that the teacher who deals with us actually monitors on our report cards. Not sure what'll happen if we don't do well in studies. but still, I'm aiming for the best. Need the willpower I used to have during PMR, the days when I was just a pure Naruto fan, untainted by the awesomeness of Arashi and its peers. Oh well, life is more challenging now.

Durian, can't get enough...!

Pretty sure its the durian season now, but wondering how did it also become the love season. Couples around me everywhere (in school). Yeah, I can't help but sin when I feel jealous. Hehe! May the Lord forgive me, the weak-hearted.

Good night, world.
